Advice Teacher Carl  Boyd’s “A” Team, a Blackfunnel Introduction

Mr. Boyd was my 8^th grade teacher in Chicago.  His infectious personality and teaching methods made education fun. We sometimes forgot that we were in school, well maybe that’s pushing it.  Nevertheless, we all looked forward to going to Parkside Elementary School everyday.

Not to push this fun issue but allow me to share with you the story of a murdered spider named, "EDGAR  S. PIDER".  This spider belonged to one of Mr. Boyd’s students who took it hard when his spider died. So, what did he allow us to do?  Well, we had a full memorial service with a student preacher officiating!  

Mr. Boyd’s approach involved raising our self esteem while pushing us toward excellence. In fact, this teacher provided bus service every week for our class to go to Operation PUSH. Our program was the genesis for Jessie Jackson’s Push For Excellence Program.   

Mr. Boyd has some revolutionary ideas to bring the best teaching minds in the nation to Blackfunnel.  These renowned educators include Dr. Robert Brazil, Director of the Hyde Park Paideia Institute and Dr. Jawanza Kujufu, author of a dozen books on teaching Black students.

Their plan is to offer educators and parents the best practices on how to teach African-American youth. In addition a subscription based service will be available to school districts which will allow them to reduce the cost for much needed “teach the teacher training”.
